New year, new beginnings

New year, new beginnings

I have always believed that the biggest risk in life is not taking one.  Venturing into a brick-and-mortar retail adventure at the start of COVID was a risk unlike any I had ever taken before, and it paid off in ways that I could not have imagined.  Thistle Creek became a destination, a place to shop, meet friends, and have a piece of pie.  The shop anchored me to my town. I met people I probably would have otherwise never known and strangers who passed through are now friends sprinkled around the country.

The idea to open Thistle Creek in downtown Big Timber was not mine.

My friend, Jenny Holman, thought that having a special shop on Main Street was a good idea.  I thought she was crazy.  Of course, she turned out to be right.  When the time is right, then or now, you just have to realize it.  She saw it then.  I can see it now.

So, as we wrap up this year and look into 2024, I would like to introduce you to the new shop owner.  Jenny is taking the reins of Thistle Creek. She is the perfect person to take this shop to its next chapter.  She has all the energy, imagination, and grace for the job.  I am going to be riding my horse a little more but I will I’ll be serving pie from time to time.  The only difference is that I’ll be working for the new boss.

Happy New Year everyone.  See you in the courtyard.
