Nestled against the Crazy Mountains in the heart of downtown Big Timber, Montana you will find thistle creek.
Small town, big idea
Opening a brick and mortar store during the middle of a pandemic sounds insane. But that is just what Kate and I did on Jun 15, 2020. To be honest, the idea wasn’t mine but in a matter of weeks the suggestion of bringing a new enterprise to this small Western town percolated into reality. I was suddenly a shop owner with a blank slate to create something unusual and unforgettable in downtown Big Timber, Montana.
An eye for the unique
Our intention since the very beginning of our venture has been to to offer the highest quality items that are also unique and wonderful. We focus on carrying small batch items from primarily women owned businesses. Most of our products are made in the United States while also introducing luxurious cashmere from Italy and the softest Alpaca from Ecuador.
Anchored in community
The response to Thistle Creek has been wonderful. Residents and summer tourists got us launched and customers have been loyal. Local business owners have offered advice and I have relied on their wisdom countless times. Through all of this we am now anchored in our community. We know our neighbors, even those who live in neighboring towns, and we have made true friends from those who just happened to walk in looking for a gift.
Gratitude and giving back
Kate and I believe that the success of any small business means being a partner with the community. Thistle Creek proudly supports our schools and non-profits and we work hard to make sure that Thistle Creek is always giving back. We continue to introduce new things like pie by the slice (what could be more American than that?) and a liberal return policy of “forever” with no receipt needed. We want people to want to come in here. And we want to be a part of peoples’ lives for a very, very long time.
